On 8 August 1981, Garberhof opened as a guesthouse for hikers. Over the years, however, many things have changed. In 2009, the largest hotel hamam in Italy was built; in 2010 the rooms were modernized and in 2017 a major renovation was carried out, leading to construction of the chalets and the renovation of the bar, sauna and pool area. Finally, in 2022, in just nine weeks the 1981 lounge bar, the rooms and the spa were redone, a new facade was designed and a natural pond for swimming was built.
